The sales-i team is still growing. Meet our latest recruit John Downes. As usual we have pitched a few questions his way to find out a bit more about him.

When did you start at sales-i?

I started on the 15th July 2013.

What does your role involve at sales-i?

My role is to increase product awareness within my designated sectors and create new business opportunities by forming relationships with prospective clients. In other words I am a one man demo creating machine with excellent communication skills.

What’s your background?

I studied Photography at the University of Gloucestershire and was awarded a 1st Class Honours for my efforts. My final major project was an analysis on how the power industry has impacted on the British landscape and was given an unprecedented 80% grade. It was also featured in the Royal Photographic Society Journal in 2012 which was a tick on the life achievement list.

Why work for sales-i?

It is an excellent product that is constantly evolving, company is growing rapidly allowing great opportunity for professional progression.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

The ability to stop time, like Bernard’s watch, he was a legend. Enough said.

So you’re in sales? Can you sell ice to an Eskimo?

No, but I could provide him with business intelligence to show the best places to fish and hunt based on his previous data.

Finally, would you rather fight a giraffe sized hamster or 100 hamster sized giraffes?

100 hamster sized giraffes. Who in their right mind would choose to take on a giraffe sized hamster? My sister had a normal sized hamster that used to shred my skin and I would assume that talons 10 times larger would do more damage. Wouldn’t know what strategy to employ to tackle the mini giraffes but I fancy my chances.

I’m the Marketing Manager here at sales-i and being in marketing I obviously love crayons and of course I have a toy Chewbacca on my desk (fully equipped with the ‘Maaaaaarh’ noise!

I have worked in the technology industry for over 7 years and have a good grasp on what’s happening in the industry. I also enjoy* the technical side of software development.

*The term ‘enjoy’ relates to the very few occasions where the techy side actually goes to plan, otherwise replace with the term ‘gets frustrated’.
